First day of operation in 2023 for the Hudswell steam loco. It’s had a slightly extended winter break. The loco is now in the final year of the current boiler ticket, and one or two areas were beginning to give problems. In particular, the smokebox and the chimney were distinctly porous in a few places. So, with a nice new chimney fitted, the loco has finally joined the party.
We are delighted to have accepted an invitation for this loco to travel to the Amerton Railway for their event on June 17 & 18; the loco will remain at Amerton for a few weeks after that, and hopefully there will at least one more chance to enjoy their railway with an Apedale loco!
