Developments for Motor Rail Mania – June 27 and 28. Two of the visitors have arrived – these are the Hampshire Narrow Gauge Railway Trust locos nos. 4724 and 5226. Our thanks to our friends at Statfold for their assistance with this loan.
We are delighted to announce that Motor Rail 7522 will operate at the event. This is one of the rare 8/12 hp locos, of which only two are known to survive. This loco came to Apedale having suffered a catastrophic engine failure; a replacement engine (single-cylinder Ailsa Craig) has been modified to suit, and fitted. And removed. And fitted, several times. But we’re through that now, and it’s yet another reason to come to the event (all details here https://avlr.org.uk/event/motor-rail-mania). A revised loco roster will be issued next week, which will include the trains to be operated by MR7522.
