In line with the government’s set-out timetable, we are expecting to open for the 2021 season on Saturday April 17th. Trains will run from 1130 to 1230 and from 1300 to 1600. We have now completed fitting screens between all the compartments on the train, so more seats will be available. We will only be using our open-sided coaches at present, so please dress appropriately for the conditions. We will run trains “on demand” when needed, in order to prevent queues building up.
Initially, we will be operating on Saturdays only, plus all three days at Bank Holiday weekends.
IMPORTANT:- We have now been advised by our colleagues at the Heritage Centre that they will be opening on a limited basis during April. This means that both the cafe and their toilet facilities will be available. The museum and the mine tours will not be operating. For more details, visit here.
During 2021, our currently planned (hoped for?) events are as follows:
May 1,2,3 – Teddy Bear Outing
June 12, 13 – Teddy Bear Outing
July 10, 11 – Classic Diesels & Steam weekend
August 7,8 – Military Trains weekend
August 28 – Leafers at t’pit Classic Landrover Rally
August 30 – Classic Cars day
October 2 & 3rd – Steam Gala
We will make an announcement later in 2021 about our popular Halloween and Santa Special trains.
There is a one-way system in place around the station, and the train will be sanitised after each trip. Things will be different, but hopefully still fun and enjoyable.
We will need to ask each visitor, family or group for a name and contact phone number. This data will be used solely for “track and trace” should it be necessary. The data will be destroyed after 21 days, and will be used for no other purpose.
We would ask that, if at all possible, payments are made using a contactless card. We now have to ask that a face covering is worn when inside the shop.
Fares for normal operating days are:
|Children under 16||£1.50|
|Family||£8.00||(max. 2 adults, 4 children)|
Children under 3 travel free.
Fares may differ on certain special event weekends.
Dogs Travel Free, but must be on a lead and travel at their owners risk.
Ride all day “Rover” tickets are available.
