A few photos from Day one of the Military Trains event. We’ve lots of people and lots of trains under clear blue skies, and the same forecast – both weather and trains – for the next two days. The Hudswell and the Hunslet steam locos have been out on the mainline. We’ve also celebrated the launch into traffic of the Ruston “Vulcan”. Delivered to the Air Ministry, the loco has an immaculate military pedigree. It was first preserved at the much-missed Abbey Light Railway in Leeds, and more recently at Embsay. The day has also seen the Apedale Light Armoured Cavalry make an appearance (courtesy of a Wickham Target Trolley).
