Plenty happening on site today. Photos show welding on the ex-Woodhead Tunnel manrider, which is currently undergoing a heavy overhaul (or rebuild, depending on how you see it). A track job saw the cross levels and alignment sorted out on one of the shed roads; although “only” a siding, this is the siding along which the passenger train runs on its way into service and at the end of each running day. Consequently, a derailment would be, at best, embarrassing. Finally, two of the steam loco being prepared for the annual visit by the boiler inspector. We may be closed for the winter, but there’s a lot going on!
