We are delighted to announce an addition to the steam loco fleet at Apedale. Orenstein and Koppel number 5662 was constructed at O&K’s works at Potsdam, and was new in November 1912. It is an example of O&K’s 50hp well tank design. It was ordered by a company called Duhnkrack and Sons, and spent its entire working life in the sugar industry of Argentina. It appears to have gained the tender whilst in Argentina, and there is a suspicion that the tender may have originated as a 2’6″ gauge vehicle. It returned to the UK a number of years ago, and has been restored off-site.
There remain a number of tasks to complete, plus training and testing for use at Apedale. We are planning a launch day for the loco in due course – watch this space!
