“A day when lots seemed to happen” was the summary by one of our volunteers this weekend. Rather an odd train was seen on the mainline. It was unclear what was going on. Perhaps this was a rather second-rate attempt to emulate the “Train of Lights” idea which seems to be all the rage at heritage railways at the moment. Only time will tell.
Meanwhile, most bodies on site were engaged in Trench Warfare. This wasn’t extending the World War One heritage offer; this was installing a cable to get electrical power to the new storage shed. The rich and varied history of the site (that’s the polite version) means that digging trenches and the like can be something of a voyage of discovery!
