Another busy weekend at Apedale. The winter PW programme reached its culmination with a fairly big job at Apedale Road. The ride running into the platform has deteriorated, and it was clear that action was needed. This area is also prone to flooding at times of very heavy rainfall – water runs off the slope in the Country Park and finds its lowest point between the tracks at the Station. The drainage is set to be dealt with, but in the meantime the track gang set to work. A good number of sleepers were replaced, and the track was re-aligned, re-gauged and finally tamped to level. A ballast drop next weekend will hopefully finish the job.
