Our last public opening before the December Santa trains is “Welsh Slate Day Take 2” this coming Saturday 5th November. “Take 2” because we had to cancel the first attempt at this event earlier in the year. The day will be rather different to most at Apedale.
We will operate the two Penrhyn slate quarry engines “Stanhope” and “Ogwen” with the slate wagons, and maybe other wagons as time allows. Sadly, we only currently have four of the slate wagons – delays have prevented the return of the 5th wagon, currently being restored off-site. The site will be open to the public from 1400-1600, on a “by donations” basis – and the Shop will also be open. We will not be operating any public passenger trains – just the freights.
