Motor Rail Mania update

We have two exciting pieces of news to update on the Motor Rail Mania event on June 27 & 28.
Firstly, we can confirm a further visiting locomotive. Motor Rail 8540 will be visiting courtesy of its owner, Gareth Rees. This is a locomotive which has been long out of the public gaze, and has probably never worked a publically available passenger train – ever! Even photos of the loco are scare – if anyone can correctly identify the location of the photo we’ll be most impressed!

Secondly, the recently-arrived storage hopper has now been configured to act as a backdrop to the early-morning photo charter on June 27. This will be themed around the Leighton Buzzzard sand quarries. An early start of 07.30 and running until 10.30, just in time for the gala to kick off in style at 11.00. Priced at £40 this includes access to the photo charter, a return train ride and site access during the Saturday of the event. Please use the website (www.avlr.org.uk) “contact us” button to book onto the charter event – we’ll keep a list of participants and collect payment on the day (cash or card). Access to the hopper area will not be generally possible during the event itself – so, to get those unique images in the early-morning light, book today!
