A Frequently Asked Question is – on what dates can I come along to Apedale and see the War Office Hunslet operating? Glad you asked….the locomotive will be operating in 2026 on the following dates as a minimum:
Easter x 3 days (4,5,6 April)
Bus Rally weekend x 2 days (May 9 & 10)
Park Animals event weekend x 2 days (13/14 June)
September Gala x 2 days (September 19 & 20)
Feldbahntreffen Saturday x 1 day (October 10).
It is possible other days may be added as the year unfolds. We are aware that people want to know which locos will be operating when, so we try to announce the plan at the start of each month. It is always worth remembering that all our steam locos are a bit like elderly relatives – they can be a bit temperamental at times, so occasional late-notice swaps are needed (note – this applies to steam locos, not your relatives).
