We have now completed two weekends of practice, familiarisation and re-assessment for re-opening to the public on August 1st. All of our crews have had to get used to a rather different way of working, with new habits to be learnt. Everyone has risen to the challenge, and we’re all now very much looking forward to the much-delayed start of the 2020 season on the Apedale Valley Light Railway. Trains will run every Saturday in August and September, plus steam days on August 8 and 9, all three days over the bank holiday weekend, and September 12 & 13. Special events are Teddy Bear’s Outing on August 8 & 9, Classic Cars in August 30, and Farewell Joffre on September 12 & 13. Another date for the enthusiast diary is October 3 & 4, when we will have our Diesel Event. We are hoping we will have an extremely special loco on site for the Diesel event – an ex-British Rail diesel loco which, we feel confident, very few have got “crossed off”. Keep watching for an announcement on this one.
