This attractive little engine arrived at Apedale on 21/8/22. It is type “1939”, and is fitted with a two-cylinder National diesel engine, type 2D. Ordered by the War Office and built to 1’11 5/8” gauge, it returned to Hibberd for reconditioning (presumably after the end of hostilities) and was sold on to Waingroves Brickworks, Ripley, being dispatched 27/10/48 (and having been regauged by 3/8” to 2’0”). Around 1955/56, it moved to Butterley & Blaby Brick Companies Ltd, Ollerton brickworks, thence (in 1957) to Blaby brickworks, near Leicester, before entering preservation at Leighton Buzzard in 1972.
