Ruston and Hornsby 191658 of 1938

This locomotive was assumed to have been ordered new by Lytham St Annes Borough Council; it is not known exactly what it was used for, or for how long. It next appeared at DSF Refectories in Friden (Derbyshire) before being acquired for preservation. After moving to various sites, the locomotive finally joined the MRT’s collection on 11/7/2018. See here for more details.

After spending many, many years outside this locomotive has suffered, a new engine had to be found as a bird’s nest was on top of and in cylinder No3. The gearbox has been fully rebuilt, new wheels and axleboxes have been sourced. The locomotive ran under its own power on 5th December 2020.
