After 1916, the majority of supplies for the trenches were transported by the War Department Light Railways, of which several locos are in the fleet. WW1 wagons range from small ”Class A” wagons (of no known survivors exist), to large water tank wagons mainly used for drinking water. After WW1, there was a large abundance of war surplus stock, which set the ”standard gauge” for narrow gauges as between 1’11½” and 2’0”.
