94 “Hector” Alan Keef 46 of 1993

Although many of the MRT locos passed through the hands of Alan keef Ltd, this is the only locomotive in the collection which was built by Keef. No.94 was delivered on 22 November 1993 to National Grid at Woodhead (see also nos. 71 and 93). The customer specified an indirect-injection engine because this diesel loco was to be used in a very long tunnel -such an engine would give rise to reduced emissions. The loco was supplied along with a man riding vehicle. It was delivered in the green colour seen on no. 71, but at some stage was re-painted to the current white. The loco arrived at Apedale on 31 March 2015, having been most generously donated to the Trust by National Grid, along with the matching man rider. It has electric start, a comfy seat and is easy to drive, making it another popular choice as works shunter. The knowledgeable railway enthusiast may spot a pattern in the nicknames for the ex-Woodhead locos!
