77, Logan 1053 of 1950

No.77 is a very unusual battery electric. It was built by Logan, a company based in Dundee. It was used by Edmund Nuttall, on the Haweswater Aqueduct contract. This aqueduct was a major feat of engineering, taking 20 years to build, and supplying much of Manchester’s drinking water. By 1964, the loco had been sold to the Castle Fire Brick Co, Mold.  The loco moved to ME Engineering, London 1968, and thence to Mitchell Bros for use on their contracts at the Tilbury power station and then the Victoria Line contract. After a brief stay in 1972 at a plant yard at Tickhill, near Doncaster, the loco moved (April 1972) to Quarry Tours at Llechwedd, which was then establishing in the former Greaves slate quarry above Blaenau Ffestiniog. The loco was never used at Llechwedd, and was placed on static display. In 2014, the loco moved to Alan Keef Ltd, then (July 2015) to a yard in Stoke. The loco moved to Apedale on 15 February 2021.
