DESCRIPTION:For one day only\, we welcome a visit from Graham Morris and his Kerr\, Stuart Wren loco “Peter Pan”. This loco is 100 years young in 2022\, and this will be a visit to the city of its construction. Kerr\, Stuart were a prolific builder of (mainly) steam locos\, with their works being in Stoke-on-Trent. We will also be running our resident Kerr\, Stuart loco “Stanhope”\, giving a rare opportunity to see these two Stoke Steam Survivors operating together at Apedale. Trains will run from 1130 to 1600\, with standard fares being charged.

DESCRIPTION:This weekend sees us mark the contribution made by all of the UK’s services\, both military and civil. We will welcome exhibits showing off the “blue light services” and historic military equipment.  Apedale boasts the UK’s premier collection of railway equipment from the First World War\, and this weekend is the opportunity to see it at work. WW1-era locos will haul passenger trains. Freight trains will see both ww1-era and military trains from later years demonstrated. Visitors can also tour our replica Trench\, and learn a little more about the experiences of soldiers during the Great War. \nStandard fares will be charged for this event. \nWe welcome potential exhibitors\, and an exhibit entry form may be downloaded here. \nPassenger trains will run from 1130 to 4pm on both days.

DESCRIPTION:The weekend when the collection of internal combustion locos take over the site and the railway. The loco roster is now available here.  \nTrains will run from 1130 to 4pm on each day\, and each train will have a different loco (or locos…) from our extensive collection. There may also be a visiting loco\, details of which will be confirmed closer to the time. Please note that we will be dealing with some fairly temperamental old machinery – so whilst we will try our hardest to stick to both the timetable and the roster\, please understand that last minute changes may be necessary. Standard fares will be charged\, with Rover tickets available on the day; one coach will be dedicated to Rover ticket holders; passengers in the other coaches will be asked to vacate seats at the end of each journey. \nUpdate 12 June:- A minor change has been made to the loco roster for Sunday. The Mystery Lister remains mysterious\, because it has been replaced by Motor Rail 5213.

DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce the return of the Apedale Spooky Specials again. From 4pm on Saturday 30 & Sunday 31 October\, we will run our Spooky Specials. It’s a fun outing\, suitable for all ages – we aim to amuse rather than terrify. Our steam trains will run at frequent intervals\, finishing at with the last train at 7pm. There’s no need to book in advance\, just turn up. Adults £3.50\, children £1.50. We would advise that you wrap up warm and bring a torch – it’s dark in the carparking area\, especially on Sunday after the clocks change. There’s a chance (actually\, pretty much a certainty) you may get wet – so be prepared! \nFrom 1130 to 3pm on each day\, we will run the normal train service\, using a diesel locomotive.

DESCRIPTION:Our annual railway gala; we are planning to have no fewer than six steam locos in operation. They will be residents “Stanhope”\, Hudswell Clarke 1238 and Hunslet 1215. They will be joined by Avonside “Ogwen” which will be making its debut (subject to the last few jobs being finished) plus “GP39” (Hudswell Clarke) and “Sybil Mary” (Hunslet quarry tank). The latter two locos are visiting courtesy of our friends at Statfold. As ever\, of course\, there is the chance of last minute mechanical hitches causing changes – we are dealing with 100 year old machines\, and they can be grumpy. \nOur loco shed will be open for visits\, and the WW1 Trench will be operating. \nAdmission will be £5 adults\, £2.50 children\, £12 family (2+2) and the admission ticket includes the first train rides – further rides can be purchased at our normal fares (adults £3.50\, children £1.50). Trains will run from 1100 to 4:30 on both days. \n

DESCRIPTION:Halloween Scary Trains.  Yes\, it’s time for the Apedale Spooky Specials again. From 4pm on Saturday 26 & Sunday 27 October\, we will run our Spooky Specials. It’s a fun outing\, suitable for all ages – we aim to amuse rather than terrify. Trains will run at frequent intervals\, finishing at 7pm. There’s no need to book in advance\, just turn up. Adults £3\, children £1.50. We would advise that you wrap up warm and bring a torch – it’s dark in the carparking area\, especially on Sunday after the clocks change. There’s a chance you may get wet – so be prepared! For those of a nervous disposition\, we will also be running the standard train service from 1130 to 4pm on each of the days.
