Our volunteers have started work on construction of the Field Railway Missing Link. Visitors to the site on events days will have seen trains running from the Yard area to a run-round loop christened Loos Loop; this is on one side of the events field. On the other side is a spur which provides access to the new storage shed and to the Trench area. The FRML project will link these two lines up, and will allow trains to complete circuits of the Field Railway. It’s hoped that this will bring a new dynamic to how demonstration trains can be operated. The weather was, to put it mildly, a bit grim, but good progress has been made nonetheless.
On the passenger railway, “Stanhope” was in steam, and was joined by a rather nice mini-me.
