We have welcomed a group from Network Rail for a corporate volunteering day. A small but effective team split to deliver two tasks. One team was tasked with removing 30 years of accumulated Welsh grime from the inside of the ex-Ffestiniog Railway coach no. 120. This is a project which stalled during the pandemic, and had become the home of a lot of materials of mixed worth; a good clear out has allowed the wood to be seen through the trees.
The second team undertook improvements to the Trench Tramway. It will be recalled that this was very lightly built, and solely served the WW1 trench. However, with the advent of Aurora South, it now has a much more important role to fulfill on the site. Hence an effective re-build of this stretch of railway. Our thanks to everyone from NR (and our own people) who made today a big success.
